Option to have Data Grid widget respond to period settings of the dashboard

Currently, the data grid does not respond to dashboard period settings.
Often this is useful as it allows users to browse through the entire database.
However, in many circumstances it would be very handy to have the option to use the dashboard period settings. For example if you want to export data for a specific time frame or if you want to browse through the newest records.
Also, for projects that have been live for a long time, you can filter out results that are not relevant anymore and for large projects it reduces the number of records that are shown (and loaded).
