This article will tell you what we mean by mapping data sources as well as how you do it, using the CYS software.

Assuming you have already created new definitions for the data that you want to have imported and assigned a header name, and data types to them, you now need to have the framework of the project data recognize that of the import file. This is done by “data mapping”. You are actively assigning for the data as presented in column A in your imported datafile to end up in a column of your choice within the data view framework of your project.

In the Import Sources tab, click the name of the source of which you want to map the data.

The screen is divided in two sections:

On your left hand side you will find a list of the columns that your imported file is made up of.

On the right hand side you will find a list of definitions that your project database is made up of.

To map the data, simply drag the column you want to assign from the left and drop it on the definition  you want to assign it to on the right. The columns and definitions in both sections will be assigned matching numbers in the color that the designated import source has been highlighted with.

Repeat this process if there are more than one import sources of which you need the data mapped.

If you are done mapping all of your desired data, turn the switch to “on” to start mapping!

Go to the data view section to see all of your mapped columns filled with imported data!
