In the rules tab of your Database you are able to manage your data. This is done by adding dynamic rules through which you can clean, improve and enrich your data or send notifications to an email list.

Within your database these dynamic rules can be created on three different levels, that represent the moment of execution. In this first article, we will focus on the first item: Creating records.

Like the name already states, any rules that are added in this section are executed at the moment that the records are created. More specifically, when they are transferred from your import slot into your project database.

This is the perfect opportunity to clean, update or enrich your data. This ensures that the data set that you are going to work with in your project is optimized for analysis and reporting later on.

For simple example:

You only have a column in your data that indicates the gender of your respondents with M or F. But in your email invitation you want to address them with mister of miss.

With the creation rules you are able to mutate the M into mister and F into miss so you have a nice salutation for your email:

And now all new records that are imported into your project will be updated accordingly!

More details and examples of creation rules can be found in our articles that describe different applications of Dynamic Rules, specifically for Creating records. And ready to use Expert rules can be downloaded in this section.
