When setting up reporting widgets in your dashboard, there are three different data point types that you can use. This article will explain the dynamic data

Dynamic data is data that is continuously changing. This data type is connected to your project and it updates real time. So with every new record that comes into your database, your dashboard is automatically updated. With dynamic data points, you are always looking at the most recent figures.

When setting up this data type, you indicate the column in your data set that contains the relevant collected data and you select a calculation that you want to apply to that data. The system executes the calculation and returns the result every time you open or refresh the dashboard. The data that is displayed is therefore different every time, hence the term dynamic data.

When selecting Dynamic as your data point type, a few data entry fields appear in your widget settings.

Project selection: in this drop down list you can select the project that contains the data you want to report on.

Data point Main type: in this drop down list you can select the calculation that you want to apply to your data.

Choose data point variable: in this drop down list you can select the column within your data set that contains the data you want to apply the calculation on.

Applications:

Dynamic data points are perfect to present real time data. You set up your widgets to execute the calculations every time someone opens the dashboard, so your viewers will always see up to date results. No more need to create reports and sent updates to your team: its ready whenever you need it!
